The borough is part of the Pittsburgh Metropolitan Area, and it's a 15 minute drive away from Pittsburgh. According to the United States Census Bureau of 2000, Emsworth has a population of 2,598. The borough has a total area of 0.7 square miles of which, 0.6 square miles of it is land and 0.1 square miles of it is water. The racial demographics of Emsworth are 94.42% White, 3.58% African American, 0.04% Native American, 1.15% Asian, 0.04% from other races, and 0.77% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.42% of the population. Emsworth has more than 1,500 households.
